 Stride Tool Observes 30^th Anniversary

 Flagship Brand Imperial^® Observes 105^th Anniversary

 

GLENWILLOW, Ohio (February 1, 2010)—Stride Tool Inc., a worldwide designer and manufacturer of specialty hand tools for the professional and DIY market, will celebrate its 30^th anniversary in March. Stride Tool is also the parent company of Imperial^®, which celebrates its 105^th anniversary this month.

Lori Northrup, chairman, founded Stride Tool in 1980 in Ellicottville, New York with one tool and one customer.  Thirty years later that same tool is still selling well and that first customer is still loyal. Today, Stride’s broad product line encompasses electrical, automotive, tube working and HVAC/R service tools and accessories, sold to customers around the globe under its brand Imperial^®.

 

In 1995, the Company acquired Milbar Corporation (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), and a year later purchased the tools and accessories division of Imperial Eastman of Niles, Illinois. Founded in 1905 as the Imperial Brass Manufacturing Company, Imperial was a pioneer in the manufacturing of brass valves and fittings, and developed into the worldwide leader of innovative products serving the HVAC/R Service and Tube Working Tool industries.

 

In May of 2000 the Stride Ellicottville operation was combined with Milbar’s, and in November 2004 all operations for the privately held company were centralized in a new 120,000 square foot facility in Glenwillow, Ohio.
